| The 'Scotts Harriers' Robert Scott's team of intrepid and, some say foolhardy, runners all successfully completed the BUPA 10K Great Run recently. |
The 'Scotts Harriers' Robert Scott's team of intrepid and, some say foolhardy, runners all successfully completed the BUPA 10K Great Run recently.
Held in Manchester the run attracted over 35,000 runners including the Scott's Harriers - Ryan Hewitt, Mark Smith, Simon Edge and Helen Baker, who ran in memory of the company's late Production Director, John Smith, who sadly passed away last January.
The team raised over £1500 which exceeded the team's target of £1000, all of which will be donated to Christies Hospital in Manchester where John was treated for his cancer. The money was collected from the Harriers website www.justgiving.com/scottsharriers (just in case any of you want to donate!) and via a collection sent around the mills.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Helen Baker said, 'We are delighted with the amount raised and a big thank you to everyone who contributed. We all completed the 10K in relatively good times and without any major injuries, save a few aching joints the following morning. The team winner was Ryan followed by Simon and Mark - I came last out of the four but I would like to point out that this was due to a 'Portaloo Pit Stop' rather than my ability to beat the boys to the winning tape!'
